Relaxing Evening Routine

My Relaxing Evening Routine
Being a mummy and an employee I often find that I don't get a lot of time for myself to relax and do well not a lot, so at least a few times a week, once Evie is tucked up into bed I try and have a nice relaxing evening to myself. I think its really important to try and have you time and unwind when you're a mum, it helps me be the best mum I can be.
Firstly, I run myself a lovely hot bath and sometimes pour myself a glass of wine.
Anybody that knows me or follows my instagram @sarahcathrynxx knows that I absolutely love lush, all things lush but especially their bubble bars and bath bombs. So this is the perfect way for me to start the relaxation. I pick a bath bomb and light lots of candles, turn the lights out and even go as far as to play spa music on my phone, its so relaxing, I often find myself nearly falling asleep! ooops!
Then once I've had my bath, I tend to go to our bedroom, put some fresh pyjamas on, and climb into bed with a good book.
While reading my book I carry on with my little pamper and tend to pop a facemask on too, I love the seaweed one from The Body Shop, it really helps to clear my skin and makes it super soft! If I'm not reading a book then I'll paint my nails and catch up on the soaps.
Its not a particularly exciting evening routine, but I find that after all the cleaning, tidying, mummy duties and working that the day involves that just a really simple relaxing routine of an evening really helps keep me in a good frame of mind throughout the week.
id love to know how you relax and unwind of an evening, do you love lush like I do?

2017

Well well well.... It's been a long time, almost 3 years to be precise!

Happy new year everyone (ok, I'm a little late to the party forgive me)

So, a lot has changed since the last time I posted, my not so little one is now 3 and a half years old and due to start school in September, we've moved house, I've moved jobs... But most importantly snapchats brilliant filters were invented ha! Who doesn't love a snapchat filter!

Anyway, I digress, this was just a little post to say hey and I'll be back with something a bit more interesting tomorrow, watch this space.

River island perfume!

So recently whilst myself John and Evie were in town i remembered that i had run out of perfume a few days previous, now i love perfume but I'm so so fussy that it takes me ages to find one that i genuinely like, meaning the last few years john and other friends and family have cashed in on the 2 perfumes they knew i loved and I've had a supply for ages, now that supply has ended and they no longer sell EITHER of the perfumes that i loved, so i had a mini meltdown haha diva!

We went into boots and i was in there for ages, I'm pretty sure i tested every single perfume out there, and none grabbed me! For me a perfume is a fairly expensive thing to buy as it gets used quite quickly and you don't really see anything from the money! Therefore when i buy a perfume i have to really love it as soon as i smell it to warrant spending £50+ on it. And i just didn't, i tried all the new ones out, the Marc Jacobs daisy dream (which brought me out in a rash) and other new ones, still nothing, so i gave up and walked out rather underwhelmed and slightly annoyed!

That in mind i then went and looked at clothes instead, the usual places, Primark, New look and of course, River Island.

Whilst in river island i spotted that they have their own perfume range...how did i never notice that before? am i the only one that never knew they did perfume! Well either way i had no idea and I've definitely been missing out, they were all really pretty scents, very fruity and floral. And they were SO cheap! I bought the biggest bottle they had and it still only cost £25 i think! Its a hugeeee bottle! the only downside is that it doesn't last very long on the skin, you do have to re-apply it quite a lot. But for the money, it doesn't really matter!

So basically if you're like me and like to wait for a perfume that you really like before you spend a large amount of money on it, then id definitely check out the river island ones as a good stop gap whilst searching for the perfect one!

Can you recommend any really nice perfumes to me? I'd love to know some beautiful scents!

Thanks for reading lovelies

Quick hairstyles for busy mummy's!

As many of you mummy's will know having the time to do your hair and makeup in the mornings is not always going to happen, if little one wakes up earlier in the morning than they normally would or if you yourself fancy a slight lie in if they are having one its a really good fall back to have some really quick, easy go to hairstyles that can be worn for any eventuality.

Myself, I am pretty lazy when it comes to my hair and I would much rather spend the time doing my makeup, so I use one of these quick and easy styles most days!

The 4 that I use regularly are;

The all up high messy bun

This is the one that I admit that I use the most and it is by far the quickest and easiest style that there is for the days when mummy just doesn't have the spare time to even think about hair! You literally grab your hair, twist it all up and bingo, you have a bun, then simply pull on the front of the hair a little, its now a messy bun, done!

The Half up half down messy pony

I would say that this is my new second most used hairstyle. sometimes even though you don't have the time do your hair and take ages on it you still don't want to wear it all up, its nice to have it down sometimes! Therefore this is the best, its quick an easy, its meant to look quite messy but styled so even if you haven't got time to straighten or curl the bits that are left down, its ok, because its meant to be a bit crazy! Again you simply grab half of you hair, secure it with a bobble, pull the front of the hair so its loose and voila done! Again takes literally 2 minutes if that!

The side pony with a twist

This one I go through phases of using. again its really quick. It looks styled and keeps your hair out of the way which, even if you aren't a mummy, sometimes you just don't want your hair all up in your grill (don't know what happened there!) With this style you just pull your hair into a low side pony, pull the bobble low down into the pony and separate the hair into 2. you the flip the pony up and through the 2 sections and you're done! The only downside to this one is that it can be a little irritating on the neck, but it definitely looks pretty!

The Fishtail Braid

And finally we have the fishtail braid. Now this does take a little longer and isn't as easy if you have shorter or heavily layered hair, for those hair types I would stick to the previous 3 styles. This style looks effortless but requires the most effort and practice of them all to master. But it looks super pretty, especially if you add a flower or something to it, its very summery too, perfect for relaxing on holiday! and even though it takes the longest out of these 4 styles, it still only takes 5 minutes max!

All of these hairstyles are really quick and honestly pretty much effort free, even though they look like some effort has been required! So whether its a 'running late' hairstyle or a 'bad hair day' hairstyle, most people will be able to do one of these in minutes, and look lovely!

As I stated in my previous post I was thinking about YouTube, well I have now decided I am going to go for it and give it a go, I am currently awaiting my editing software and then ill be up and running, so I may show you how I do these styles!

Do you have any go to hair styles that you always opt for when you have no time or are having a bad hair day? id love to see some!

See you soon lovelies

Making time for mummy and daddy!

As first time parents, I think you always struggle to let go and let someone else watch your little ones whilst you go and have some mummy and daddy time, whether this be a trip to the cinema, out for a meal and drinks, or even just a trip to McDonalds ha!

But why is this? Well me personally there are a few reasons that I struggle with the idea of leaving Evie with her nanny or auntie of an evening and venturing out with John.

Reason 1: Evie is my little girl, I made the choice to bring her into the world and I feel that I should be the one to always be there for her when possible, I don't HAVE to go out of an evening, so I don't tend to.

Reason 2: I hate to feel like a burden, I don't want to ruin other peoples plans or make them bored etc sitting with Evie whilst she's asleep.

Reason 3: What if she got poorly? And neither mummy or daddy were there, no instant mummy and daddy comfort, it makes me dad that she could be poorly and sad that we aren't there for her.

Those are the main reasons that me and john have been out twice for a meal since Evie was born, the last time being valentines day!

Is it just us that really struggles with how to feel more comfortable whilst put having time together? Does anyone have any tips on how to make it a little easier?

Thinking about YouTube.

So now it's almost a year ago that I began to blog. With Evie growing and changing so much ive really not been giving blogging as much attention as I maybe should but hey, I'd rather watch my girl grow!

That said I do really enjoy blogging but of an evening I'm just so tired that I feel I don't have the energy to sit and write blog posts.

I feel like blogging has brought me a sort of confidence and that's something I really do lack. And this is where my thought process involving YouTube begins!

I love YouTube videos from beauty and home bloggers, I normally watch Atleast a couple an evening! My favourite youtuber is Gabriella aka velvetgh0st. I've watched her videos from the very beginning and I think it's amazing how much confidence it's helped her with and how much she's changed and come out of her shell!

This has had me thinking even more if I should just take the plunge and maybe go for it?!? Not sure I probably won't but I'd love to give it a go!

Do any of you have a YouTube channel? I'd love to check them out if you do?! If you've any advice about setting up a YouTube then please feel free to comment, help me decide haha!

Thanks lovelies!

Trying to make my house more homely!

Well, we have now been in our new home for 8 months and it's gone so quickly and definitely feels like home.

We love our cute little house but I always feel like I need to make it more homely! I'm always on the look out for things that could make it feel more cosy and snug, I absolutely love shabby chic styling and also next home is just beautiful at the moment!

I've been picking little bits and bobs up for ages now, and slowly starting to pick their spots and put them in the places but I'm still after more ideas of what I can do?!

I have a major cushion obsession, I could buy like one a day but I think I have enough for now, I love lights and pictures they definitely bring a cosy look to a room but I'm still not happy in total with our bedroom.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can make my room a little more cosy and homely? What things do you have in yours?

Thanks for reading lovies, see you soon!
